someone's survival guide.

The Role of a Peer Listener
As a listener, you are not expected to have all the answers. Your primary role is to be empathetic, present, and actively listen. Here is what we expect from our community volunteers.
-
Do: Practice Active Listening
Ask open-ended questions, validate their feelings, and let them guide the conversation.
-
Do: Maintain Confidentiality
Everything discussed in a chat stays in the chat. Respect the anonymity of the platform.
-
Don't: Give Medical Advice
You are a peer, not a licensed therapist. Do not diagnose or prescribe solutions.
-
Don't: Judge or Criticize
Avoid saying things like "you shouldn't have done that." We are a strictly judgment-free zone.
Crisis Protocol
If a user indicates they want to harm themselves or others, you must immediately escalate the situation by sharing our Emergency Helpline resources (iCall 9152987821) and flagging the chat for Admin review. You are never alone in handling a crisis.
Listener Application
Fill out this form to join the waitlist. Admin approval usually takes 24-48 hours. No login required to apply.
